Alter Schema

Schemas are containers for documents, indexes and other schemas. Schema names are nested with colons: WordList:Word is the Word schema inside the WordList schema.
  • CREATE SCHEMA creates one schema; its parent must already exist. Create each level in turn to build a nested path. Creating a schema that already exists does nothing.
  • DROP SCHEMA deletes a schema with all of its documents, indexes and child schemas. Dropping a schema that does not exist does nothing.
  • ALTER SCHEMA is accepted but has no settings to change.

round-pushpin Creates a schema inside the existing WordList schema.
CREATE SCHEMA WordList:Definitions

round-pushpin Creates a nested path one level at a time.
CREATE SCHEMA WordList:Archive
CREATE SCHEMA WordList:Archive:Year2024

round-pushpin Drops a schema and everything in it.
DROP SCHEMA WordList:Archive
